Role specific requirements

    Minimum criteria

    Event and Public First Aider (EPFA)

    • Qualsafe (RQF) First Response Emergency Care (FREC) Level 3 Award, or Future Quals FAQ Level 3 Award for First Responders on Scene: Emergency First Responder
    • Qualification gained within the last 3 years and kept valid through CPD evidence
    • No other qualifications are accepted

    Minimum criteria

    Emergency Care Assistant (ECA)

    • Qualsafe (RQF) First Response Emergency Care (FREC) Level 4, or Future Quals FAQ Level 4 Diploma for Associate Ambulance Practitioners (RQF)
    • Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Safe Administration of Lifesaving Medicines (SALM)
    • 4 additional development days with EDMS

    Minimum criteria

    Clinical Support Technician (CST)

    • Qualsafe (RQF) First Response Emergency Care Level 4 Award
    • Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Safe Administration of Lifesaving Medicines
    • EDMS CST Training Course

    Minimum criteria

    Nurse

    • Qualified for a minimum of 2 years
    • Experience in ED, ITU, or Primary / Urgent Care
    • Registration with the NMC

    Minimum criteria

    Paramedic

    • Qualified for a minimum of 2 years
    • Completed an NQP Programme within an NHS ambulance service (if qualified since 2016)
    • Registration with the HCPC

    Minimum criteria

    Advanced Healthcare Practitioner (Paramedic or Nurse Practitioner)

    • A qualified Nurse, Paramedic or Physiotherapist
    • Current registration with the NMC or HCPC
    • A minimum of 10 years’ post-registration experience
    • Additional qualification(s) in urgent care, critical care or emergency care to master’s level or equivalent
    • Currently working at this level within the NHS

    Minimum criteria

    Doctor

    • A qualified medical practitioner
    • Current full registration with the GMC and a licence to practise medicine in the UK
    • Qualified for a minimum of 2 years
    • A current ALS qualification

    Doctors do not work in isolation and are supervised by a senior doctor.

    Minimum criteria

    Senior Doctor (Consultant / Specialist Doctor)

    • Qualified for a minimum of 10 years
    • Working within the NHS at consultant or specialist level
    • A postgraduate diploma/fellowship or master’s degree
    • At least 2 revalidations completed
    • ALS, EPLS and ATLS qualifications or equivalent
